Disaster recovery assistance for the disposal of Group 2 AgVet chemicals
ChemClear is working with the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) to help farmers, primary producers and agribusinesses safely dispose of unwanted agricultural and veterinary (AgVet) chemicals following severe weather events in May 2025.
This assistance is being funded under the joint Commonwealth and State disaster recovery funding arrangements.
A statewide ChemClear collection is planned across New South Wales, providing chemical users with an opportunity to clear unwanted, obsolete or unknown AgVet chemicals from their properties. Registrations for the collection close on 25 September 2026.
As part of this collection, disaster recovery funding assistance is being provided to help with the disposal of eligible Group 2 chemicals. Assistance under this initiative is available for registrations in disaster-declared Local Government Areas (LGAs) across the Mid North Coast, Hunter and New England regions.
Working together to clean up NSW farms
Unwanted chemicals can take up valuable storage space and become difficult to manage, particularly when containers are damaged, labels deteriorate or products are no longer required.
ChemClear provides a safe and responsible disposal pathway for these chemicals. Through this funding initiative, eligible chemical users can receive assistance with disposal costs that would normally apply to Group 2 chemicals.
Funding assistance is available to the following disaster-declared LGAs:
Armidale Regional
Bellingen Shire
Clarence Valley
Coffs Harbour
Dungog
Kempsey Shire
Maitland
MidCoast
Nambucca Valley
Port Macquarie-Hastings
Port Stephens
Walcha
Chemical users in these LGAs are encouraged to register as early as possible. Eligibility will be determined after registrations close. Chemical users outside these LGAs can still participate in the statewide NSW collection under ChemClear’s standard arrangements.

To participate, register your unwanted AgVet chemicals with ChemClear by 25 September 2026. Once registrations have been assessed, ChemClear will provide further information about funding assistance and collection arrangements.
Frequently asked questions
What are Group 2 chemicals?
Group 2 chemicals are unwanted AgVet chemicals manufactured by companies that do not participate in drumMUSTER, as well as chemicals that are unknown, unlabelled, mixed, expired by more than two years or deregistered more than two years ago. Due to their specialised handling and disposal requirements, fees normally apply.
Who is eligible for the funding?
The funding is available for eligible Group 2 chemicals registered by farmers, primary producers and agribusinesses in the listed disaster-declared LGAs.
Will the funding cover my full disposal cost?
The amount of assistance will depend on the total volume of eligible Group 2 chemicals registered and the funding available. ChemClear will confirm the amount allocated to your registration after registrations close.
How do I apply for funding?
There is no separate funding application. Register your unwanted chemicals through ChemClear by 25 September 2026. If your registration and location meet the eligibility criteria, it will be considered automatically.
I have already registered. Do I need to register again?
No. Existing registrations within eligible LGAs will be considered for funding. Contact ChemClear if you need to add chemicals or update your registration.
Can I participate if I am outside an eligible LGA?
Yes. The ChemClear collection is taking place statewide. Standard ChemClear fees will apply to Group 2 chemicals that are not eligible for disaster recovery funding assistance.
When will the collection take place?
Collection locations and dates will be confirmed after registrations close. Registered participants will be contacted directly with further instructions.
