Werribee South drumMUSTER site closure
Important information
Werribee South drumMUSTER site closure
Agsafe has closed the Werribee South drumMUSTER collection service at Diggers Road following repeated safety and compliance issues that could not be resolved. We know this service has been valued by the local farming community for many years.
A new service is on the way
We are actively working with Wyndham City Council to deliver a new recycling service for the Werribee South area. Importantly, this will not only bring back drumMUSTER but will also introduce bagMUSTER – Agsafe’s new product stewardship program — dedicated to recycling eligible polypropylene (PP) agricultural bags.
This is a significant step forward. For the first time in the region, farmers will be able to recycle both their drums and bags together, making it easier and more sustainable to manage farm waste.
What to do in the meantime
While we finalise this new service, you have two options:
Option 1
Hold onto your drums and eligible PP bags until the new combined service is operating, so you can recycle both at the one time.
Option 2
Take them to the Bacchus Marsh Transfer Station at Osborne Street, Bacchus Marsh VIC 3340, which is accepting both drums and eligible PP bags.
Please check opening hours before you travel.
For drums only, you can also use the Melton Recycling Facility at 33 Ferris Road, Cobblebank VIC 3338.
Please check opening hours before you travel.
Why the site has closed
The Werribee South site has been misused outside of collection hours, leading to:
Ineligible or contaminated containers being left on site
Risks to public safety, the environment, and program integrity
A reduction in the quality of materials collected for recycling
Despite extensive discussions with Wyndham City Council about alternative options, no agreement has been reached. We understand this may mean travelling further than usual, and we are continuing to work behind the scenes to secure a closer alternative for the Werribee South farming community.
