Agsafe launches inaugural Product Stewardship Week (16-22 March 2026)

Agsafe is proud to announce the launch of its inaugural Product Stewardship Week, taking place 16–22 March 2026. The national digital initiative is dedicated to recognising, strengthening and celebrating product stewardship programs across Australian agriculture. The week will highlight the leadership shown by industry in managing products responsibly throughout their lifecycle and reinforce the sector’s ongoing commitment to environmental protection, human health and sustainable farming practices.

Product Stewardship Week will shine a spotlight on the collective efforts of industry, government and community to reduce the environmental and health impacts of products from creation through to disposal. While Agsafe administers nationally recognised stewardship programs for the agricultural chemical sector, the week is intended to celebrate all stewardship initiatives operating across Australia and the many organisations contributing to responsible product management.

Product stewardship ensures that those who design, manufacture, supply and use products take responsibility for them beyond their point of sale. By embedding stewardship principles across supply chains, industries can reduce waste, improve resource recovery, prevent environmental contamination and protect human health. Effective stewardship programs also support the transition to a more circular economy by ensuring valuable materials are reused, recycled or safely disposed of.

Agsafe CEO Alicia Garden said Product Stewardship Week is an opportunity to highlight the important work already being done across the country and encourage broader awareness of stewardship’s role in responsible industry practice.

“Product stewardship is about shared responsibility. It ensures industry takes practical, measurable action to reduce environmental impact and protect the communities we operate in,” Ms Garden said.

“Australian agriculture has strong stewardship programs delivering real environmental outcomes, and this week is about celebrating that progress while encouraging even greater participation across industry.”

Throughout the week, Agsafe is encouraging organisations, partners and stakeholders to participate by celebrating stewardship initiatives, sharing stories that demonstrate positive environmental outcomes and raising awareness about how stewardship programs support responsible farming and product management.

Australia has made significant progress in developing stewardship programs that deliver measurable environmental benefits. However, continued awareness and engagement remain essential to ensuring these programs continue to grow and succeed.

Ms Garden said Product Stewardship Week also presents an opportunity for Australia to showcase its leadership in responsible product management.

“When we highlight stewardship success stories, we demonstrate what responsible industry looks like in practice,” Ms Garden said.

“Product Stewardship Week is a chance for the agricultural sector to showcase the positive impact we are delivering as a country and to reinforce our shared commitment to doing what is right for the environment.”

Agsafe encourages industry, government, partners and the wider community to get behind Product Stewardship Week and help showcase the positive work already underway across Australia.

By collectively promoting stewardship initiatives and increasing awareness of their benefits, the sector can continue strengthening Australia’s reputation for responsible and sustainable agriculture.
