Upcoming ChemClear collection for New South Wales: Register by 31 August 2026
Agsafe has announced a ChemClear collection for New South Wales, providing farmers and agribusinesses with the opportunity to safely dispose of unwanted or obsolete agricultural and veterinary (AgVet) chemicals. Registrations are now open and will close on 31 August 2026. Registering before the deadline ensures your chemicals are included in the upcoming collection, helping reduce on-farm risks and support responsible chemical stewardship.
Reduce risks and maintain compliance
Holding onto unwanted, expired or de-registered chemicals can increase risks to people, property and the environment. Removing these products from your farm or business helps create a safer workplace, reduces the potential for incidents and supports compliance with quality assurance and farm management requirements. ChemClear provides a trusted national program for the safe collection and disposal of unwanted AgVet chemicals.
Why participate in ChemClear?
Improve safety: Remove unwanted chemicals from your property to help protect workers, families, livestock and the environment.
Simple registration: Register online or by phone, then deliver your chemicals to a scheduled local collection.
Support sustainability: Responsible disposal prevents unwanted chemicals from remaining in storage and contributes to better environmental outcomes.
What chemicals are accepted?
ChemClear accepts a broad range of unwanted AgVet chemicals, categorised into two groups:
Group 1 chemicals are collected free of charge when they are within two years of their expiry date, remain in their original containers and were manufactured by companies participating in the drumMUSTER program.
Group 2 chemicals include products that are more than two years past their expiry date, have missing or illegible labels, or were manufactured by companies that do not participate in drumMUSTER. These products require specialised disposal, and a quotation will be provided before collection.
How the program works
1. Prepare an inventory
Record all unwanted or obsolete chemicals, including product names, container sizes and their condition. This information will be required during registration.
2. Register your chemicals
Register online or call 1800 008 182. Your chemicals will be assessed as either Group 1 or Group 2, and you will receive a registration reference number.
3. Store chemicals safely
Continue storing registered chemicals securely until collection. ChemClear will provide storage stickers to help identify registered products.
4. Attend your collection
Once collection dates are confirmed, you'll receive details of your allocated collection point, date and time. Transport your registered chemicals safely using an appropriate vehicle such as a ute or truck—never inside the passenger compartment or boot of a car.
5. Responsible disposal
ChemClear manages the safe disposal of all collected chemicals. Approximately 98% are repurposed as an alternative fuel source for industries such as cement manufacturing. The remaining 2% are treated using specialised technologies, including Plasma Arc, or stabilised for secure landfill disposal. All disposal methods comply with relevant Environmental Protection Authority requirements.
